Umami

We have included the concept

UMAMI: WELCOME TO THE 5th TASTE!

The word Umami comes from Japanese (旨味), and means a delicious, intense flavour. It is one of the five basic tastes, together with sweet, salty, sour and bitter, that we are able to distinguish, and its receptor taste buds are situated mostly in the centre of the tongue.

It is created thanks to the lengthy process of preparation of Iberian Legacy ham/pork shoulder (“paleta") with a minimum curing of 24/12 months, in which the proteins are transformed into essential amino acids that are responsible for this flavour.

It thus describes a product whose flavour is pleasant and very savoury, so we can say that is the essence of taste. Our Iberian Legacy ham is a product rich in natural umami that quite literally makes your mouth water.

TASTING MAP AND STORY.

This new fifth element describes the product in sensory terms and better conveys its true worth.
It enhances and personalises it so that it stands out from the competition.

DELICIOUS AND INTENSE.

This great-tasting ham with a generous grain and shine, stands out for its nuances of nuts with a slight hint of freshly baked bread and is particularly tasty thanks to the presence of natural umami, characteristic of a fine Iberian ham, which produces a full sensation in the mouth and achieves a perfect sweet/savoury balance.

We give tangible form to all these values in a new presentation. We are renewing our packaging, improving the design of the products to identify them better while retaining their appeal.
